Introduction to the Clinic

EV Facial Aesthetics is part of the ‘Evolve’ Clinic brand, housed in the stunning and discreet Heritage House location.

The clinic was established for patients looking for a safe, reliable, accountable and professional service.

Every patient is treated with discretion, respect and the best approach to non-surgical and aesthetic treatments in a medical and professional environment.

We are an advanced practitioner-led clinic. We believe that all our practitioners should be well trained, not only in the procedure they are performing but also in dealing with any complications or difficulty that may arise, which is what sets us apart from other beauty clinics and practitioners.

We are proud to be able to offer you the best, most up-to-date treatments in a safe and modern environment.

For those that prefer, we also offer a discreet entrance and exit facility to the rear of the building.

We look forward to welcoming you to the clinic.

Consultation

The consultation is possibly one of the most important and significant parts of your journey with us. Taking this first step can be difficult, so we offer a warm and welcoming environment to discuss your cosmetic concerns.

We take the time to get to know you, guiding you towards the most appropriate treatment options.

Although some of the procedures we offer are widely available and straightforward to perform, they require a thorough understanding of head and neck anatomy, which can only be achieved through experience and continual updating of knowledge.

This is provided as a free-of-charge service for any new consultation.

Treatment

All sessions are performed in a clean, safe and clinical environment. We endeavour to make your experience with us as comfortable and relaxed as possible and will always try to make sure treatments appointment times are adequate so they are not rushed. Photographs are always taken pre-treatment, sometimes post-treatment, and makeup will usually need to be removed.

Review

Although most of our regular patients don’t require review, all new patients receiving treatment for the first time are asked to attend a review appointment to make sure both you and we as practitioners are happy with the outcome. On more involved or complex cases, we also prefer to have treatments reviewed. This is included as part of your ongoing care.

Maintenance

Once we’ve achieved desired results, it is important to be aware that maintenance is required. We know how busy life can be, so whether it be for your three-monthly muscle-relaxant treatment or maintenance of your new profile, we offer a recall service.

* We appreciate that for some patients our location may be inconvenient so as an added service we now offer treatments at our satellite clinic in Westhoughton.

BOTOX

  • What Is Botox?

Basically, the product is a natural protein that’s mixed with sterile water.

  • What Will Happen During Tx?

For new patients a consultation is always required first. This is because muscle-relaxants are classed as prescription items and as such a face-to-face assessment is required first. When a second treatment appointment is made, consent forms are signed, photographs are taken, and the treatment is completed.

Please be aware that any makeup worn around the treatment area will need to be removed, both for the consultation and for the procedure.

  • How Long Will the Treatment Last?

The procedure itself is very quick, usually taking less than 5-10 minutes once seated.

  • How Quickly Will I Notice Results?

This can vary from person to person. On average around 2-5 days, with maximum effect at two weeks. This is why we would generally never review a treatment before two weeks. Most results tend to last around three months before a gradual return of muscle movement.

  • Is It Safe?

Generally, the procedure is very safe and effective. However, it is still a medical procedure and needs to be performed in a clean environment with excellent cross-infection control by a medical practitioner.

  • Are There Side Effects?

Again, although this usually a very safe and effective treatment, side effects are possible; these can be injection-related and product-related. This is discussed in detail during your consultation.

  • Will Botox™ Injections Freeze My Face and Make Me Expressionless?

Our aim at EV Aesthetics is a ‘less is more’ approach, particularly for those having treatments for the first time. Muscle-relaxant is a product that, once administered, cannot be removed. We are far more comfortable having patients return for review and adding more product if needed; there is no additional cost for this.

There are some patients who specifically request to have a very strong result. We appreciate that this is personal preference but will always try to guide people to a more natural, fresh-looking result.

  • Post Treatment Care?

Very minimal downtime. Individuals can return to work or their normal routine straight away.

FILLERS

  • What Are Dermal Fillers?

Most fillers are made up of hyaluronic acid which is sugar and water.

  • What Will Happen During Tx?

During the treatment appointment, which is sometimes at the same time as the consultation, consent forms are signed, photographs are taken, and the treatment is completed.  Please be aware that any makeup worn around the treatment area will need to be removed, both for the consultation and for the procedure.

  • How Quickly Will I Notice Results?

Results are apparent fairly quickly.  However, we do advise a period of a few weeks for the product to fully integrate into the skin.

  • How Long Will the Treatment Last?

Treatment time depends on which area is being treated but typically will last around 30 minutes. The duration of results can vary from person to person, dependent on the product, but typically from around 6 months to 18 months is common.

  • Is It Safe?

At EV Aesthetics we only use products that have FDA approval or CE mark.  Our products of choice are, Belotero, Teosyal, Juvéderm and Restylane.  All have excellent safety profiles.

  • Are There Side Effects?

This would need to be discussed at consultation, but there can be increased likelihood of some slight swelling, reddening and/or minimal bruising.  There are other complications that may be relevant which would be discussed further.

  • Will fillers make My Face change? I don't want it to look overdone.

As with all treatments, our aim at EV Aesthetics is a ‘less is more’ approach, particularly for those having treatments for the first time.  We are far more comfortable having patients return for review and adding more product if needed.  We want to enhance and freshen your look – the aim isn’t to make you look twenty years younger but just a fresher version of you.

For beautification treatments, to enhance cheeks, lips or jawlines in younger patients, the fashion is very much to have a fuller look. We will always endeavour to be honest and advise if we feel that a treatment may be too much.  This has to be the practitioner’s responsibility.

  • What Is the Difference Between a Needle and a Cannula?

This is merely the way the filler is delivered to the treatment area.  Needles are very accurate but have a higher chance of causing bruising as they are sharp.  Cannulas, which are effectively blunt needles are usually less likely to cause side effects and in certain areas of the face are safer to use, however they are usually less accurate in product placement.  It is usually whichever means the practitioners feels comfortable using.

  • Post Treatment Care?

This can vary tremendously from person to person and depending on what part of the face is being treated.  For example, the lips tend to swell for a few days whereas other areas far less.  Bruising is always a possibility, as well as some tenderness in the treatment area, all of which are usually short-lived.  If filler treatment is being undertaken, we usually recommend having no important occasions that same week as a precaution.

AQUALYX

  • What Is Aqualyx?

Aqualyx is a hydrous, micro-gelatinous solution that was developed by prof.  Pasquale Motolese.

The active substance contained in Aqualyx, Desoxychol-Acid, a secondary bile acid, is also known as an ”immune vitamin3“, and is a naturally occurring acid within the human body that has an essential function concerning the digestion of fat.

  • What Will Happen During Treatment?

Dependent on the area treated, the skin is prepped, photographs taken, and the product administered.  Typically for pre-jowl and neck fat, the treatment will take no longer than 15-30 minutes.

  • How Quickly Will I Notice Results?

This can take up to two weeks.

  • Is It Safe?

Yes, the active substance contained in Aqualyx, desoxychol-acid, a secondary bile acid, is also known as an ‘immune vitamin 3’, and is a naturally occurring acid within the human body that has an essential function concerning the digestion of fat.  In order to guarantee a minimal adverse effect after intralipotherapy with Aqualyx, the active substance was cased with galactose, as well as supplied with an additional two hydroxyl compounds for an increased degree of efficiency of the substance.  The active phase is around six minutes.

  • Are There Side Effects?

Yes, almost all cases will have a degree of swelling (approx. 80%), reddening and bruising.  This can be described as moderate to severe.  There may also be a degree of discomfort afterwards.

  • Post Treatment Care?

For head and neck, nil.  For body treatments we would recommend compression garments.

TEETH WHITENING

  • What Is Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening, or more specifically teeth bleaching, is a way of cleaning the outer layer of teeth of organic matter from food and drink.  A product called hydrogen peroxide is used.  Only dentists are allowed to do this, so do be cautious of anyone else offering as it is illegal.

  • What Will Happen During Treatment?

A consultation is required to assess if your teeth are suitable for whitening.  Impressions are taken, from which custom-made trays are constructed.  These are provided along with the bleach and instructions on how to use it.

  • How Quickly Will I Notice Results?

This can vary from person to person and also depends on how white you wish your teeth to be.  Typically, most people notice a great improvement within a week.

  • How Long Will the Treatment Last?

This is lifestyle dependent.  If you drink lots of tea, coffee and red wine or if you smoke, then results will last for a shorter period.  We always advise of the need for maintenance, a little bit like maintaining a suntan, so you would need to wear the trays say once a week or for a few days prior to an important social occasion.

  • Is It Safe?

Provided that treatment is undertaken by a dentist then yes, it is generally a very safe procedure.

  • Are There Side Effects?

    Occasional sensitivity.

  • Post Treatment Care?

Aftercare of trays needed which is discussed at your consultation/treatment appointments.

  • Any Other Advice?

We would strongly recommend that you have had a check-up with your own registered dentist in the last six months, although we will undertake an oral examination to make sure of suitability.

PLEXR

  • What Is Plexr?

Basically, it is a medical grade device that utilises plasma.  It works by causing tissue contraction in the treatment target area.  It is effective on small areas and can be used around the eyes, mouth and neck.

  • What Will Happen During Treatment?

Consent forms are signed, photographs are taken, either local anaesthesia or topical cream is administered and, once it has taken effect, the procedure can take around 30 minutes to an hour depending on what is being treated.

  • How Quickly Will I Notice Results?

Usually fairly quickly, although the swelling can take up to a week to subside in some cases.

  • How Long Will the Treatment Last?

Permanent subject to further change in the ageing process.

  • Is It Safe?

Providing that post procedural advice is adhered to, then this is generally a safe treatment.

  • Are There Side Effects?

The main side effects, particularly when the eyes are treated, are swelling and crusting (scab formation). This usually lasts around five days.

  • Post Treatment Care?

Most important is to keep the treated area dry and to avoid direct sunlight.

PRP WITH DERMAROLLER

  • What Is PRP?

Also known as vampire facelift or vampire therapy, basically it is an advanced skin rejuvenation treatment which uses the healing components of your own blood.  This treatment produces improvement in skin texture, tone and glow, also helping with dark circles – all by using the body’s own blood cells.  PRP is not a facelift.

  • What Will Happen During Treatment?

A blood sample is taken, run through a special machine, and then the healing components of the blood are extracted and injected into the face.

  • How Quickly Will I Notice Results?

Results are gradual and can take over a month to establish.  Maintenance sessions are also needed.

  • How Long Will the Treatment Last?

Usually around 45 minutes to an hour.  Typically needed are 2-3 sessions over a year, ideally within 6-9 months.  Results tend to be evident for over a few years.

  • Is It Safe?

Yes, very safe as the body’s own cells are used.

  • Are There Side Effects?

Usually some reddening, swelling and bruising can occur but is short-lived.

  • Post Treatment Care?

Use of high SP factor 50 for a few days afterwards.

GENERAL

  • How Do I Know the Practitioner Is Properly Qualified?

Lee qualified as a GDC registered practitioner in 2001and Sandy in 2000.  They have both undertaken extensive training for all the treatments that they offer.  If you would like further reassurance, please look online at the General Dentistry Council’s list of Registered Practitioners.  They are members of the Aesthetic Complications Expert Group (ACE) and the Northern Aesthetic Practitioners Group (NAPG), meaning that they speak with other professionals and experts in aesthetics to perform best practice.  Both are also fully insured with the Dental Defence Union, Dental Protection and Hamilton Fraser Insurance Group.

  • Is EV Aesthetics Regulated and By Whom?

Both Lee and Sandy are regulated by the General Dental Council and follow best practice guidelines.  EV Aesthetics is also a member of the Cosmetic Redress Scheme which is a government authorised consumer redress scheme designed to protect the patient’s interests in regard to legislation, code of practice or unfair treatment.

  • What Happens If I Have A problem or I Am Not Happy With The Result?

We offer all patients follow-up appointments at no additional cost and we will see you as soon as possible for any problems or concerns, should they occur.  We also provide direct contact numbers for both the practitioner and the clinic, as well as an e-mail address, so you will never be far away from a point of contact.

  • Will I Need A Medical?

All patients are asked to complete a detailed medical-history questionnaire for review by their practitioner, together with a consent form.  Both of these are easy to complete and are straightforward.

  • Can Treatment Be Performed on The Same Day?

For new patients a consultation is always required first.

All other treatments could be undertaken on the day.  However, we strongly recommend that patients have time to reflect on any proposed treatment and rebook an appointment.  Also, dependent on the treatments, there may be inadequate time to undertake both a consultation and a treatment in one session.

  • What Payments Do You Accept?

We accept cash, and the following credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, Debit Cards, Maestro (formerly Switch), Solo and American Express.

  • What If I Have A Complaint?

We are committed to providing a professional service to all our patients.  However, we do have a complaints procedure in place and if for any reason you are unhappy with the treatment and feel you want to make a complaint or comment on the service provided, please either contact a member of staff at the clinic or call for further details. We will deal with any matters arising promptly and as efficiently as possible.

  • Is There a Difference Between Men and Women Having Treatments?

Facial shape and proportions can be quite different between men and women and, as such, treatment techniques need to be adapted.  Men will generally have more powerful muscles relevant to anti-wrinkle injections.  All this is assessed at the consultation stage.

  • I Have heard of the 8-point facelift; do you offer this?

More recently treatments such as the 8-point lift have been promoted.  However, this rather generic approach to facial volumizing has fallen out of favour; each person’s face should be treated as an individual and treatment adapted to address this.  There may be elements of this injection strategy used in some cases.

  • Do You Ever Turn People Away?

There are several reasons that a practitioner may consider that a treatment is not a suitable option for an individual and we have patient-selection criteria to ensure that patients are medically and psychologically fit to undergo a particular treatment.  It is therefore possible that we may advise, in your best medical interests, that the procedure is not appropriate.  We will also not proceed with a procedure if we feel that your expectations exceed the results achievable by such surgery or if it is something you absolutely do not need or will not benefit from.

  • Is It Safe to Receive Anti-wrinkle/Dermal Filler Injections If I Am Pregnant or Have Just Had a Baby?

As described in the previous answer, we would normally advise that a year is left postpartum.  Under no circumstances is treatment undertaken on those who are pregnant and it is not recommended for those who are trying to conceive.

Lee Whittle

Our lead clinician is Mr Lee Whittle BDS, who has over 15 years’ experience with facial aesthetic procedures. During this time, he has undertaken extensive training and education at a number of prestigious centres including The Royal College of Medicine, The Royal College of Surgeons and Harley Street in London.

Several thousand treatments have been performed by Lee during this fourteen-year period, providing a number of therapies, including more routine treatments such as wrinkle reduction, lip and volume enhancement, as well as more advanced procedures such as cheek augmentation, facial profile changes, non-surgical blepharoplasties and fat-reduction injections.

Through his work, Lee has developed an impressive regular client-base in the North-West area. “I am particularly proud of the experience clients come away with, whether returning or coming for first-time consultations, a comfortable and relaxed journey is realised. Clients will generally want a natural look that softens off the appearance of problem areas, without it looking like they’ve had a treatment and that’s what I provide. I am passionate about facial aesthetics, and the impact that it can make on individual clients, their well-being, self-image and confidence.”

Working both within the NHS and Private sectors, Lee still operates on a part-time basis as a dental surgeon and is based in Manchester.

At EV Aesthetics, we strive to provide an exceptional level of service and believe this should be offered at a competitive  price.  We also offer finance options.
