We are excited to introduce our latest treatment here at Evolve, BTL Unison – the new revolutionary cellulite reduction solution.

An estimated 85% of women are affected by cellulite, and while it’s difficult to try and prevent, this new treatment provides a way to dramatically improve the appearance of it.

We understand that having cellulite can cause embarrassment for most, and is often the reason many shy away from wearing their favourite pair of shorts come summer time, as it can leave anyone feeling quite self conscious.

That’s why we were extremely excited about BTL Unison when first introduced to it, and we instantly knew that we had to be able to offer this treatment to our clients!

But first, what is cellulite?

Cellulite is essentially visible fat deposits under the layer of skin. When the fat deposits push through the connective tissue beneath the skin, it creates the appearance of lumps and dimples, known as cellulite.

Cellulite typically develops in the lower body region, usually on the hips, thighs, legs or buttocks. However, it can also occur in any other area of the body, but is less likely to be noticeable.

A lot of factors play a role in the development of cellulite, such as:

  • Poor diet
  • Hormones
  • Genetics
  • An unhealthy lifestyle
  • Weight gain
  • Inactivity
  • Pregnancy
  • Accumulated toxins

With so many contributing factors, it’s difficult to take full control over whether we do, or do not have cellulite, especially where things such as genetics and hormones are concerned.

Both men and women can be affected by cellulite, and while it’s very common, more often than not it can have a huge impact on a persons self-esteem.

We tend to find that it becomes more of an issue as we get older, as the skin starts to thin and becomes less elastic which in turn causes the lumps to become more visible. Therefore, more and more of us are desperately searching for ways to get rid of those unsightly lumps, or at least reduce their appearance. Which brings us to our next question…

How do I get rid of cellulite?

It can often be misconstrued that having cellulite means a person is ‘fat’, but that is far from the truth. In fact, someone who has been regularly exercising for 10 years and eating a healthy diet could be in the best shape of their life with a relatively low body fat percentage, yet still have visible cellulite.

Therefore, it’s likely that anyone setting out to lose weight in order to rid their cellulite will be left disappointed by the results. Having said that, cellulite can often become more noticeable after gaining weight, so by losing that weight there’s a good chance that it will become less visible, but it won’t get rid of it.

This is because cellulite is a by-product of the normal fat beneath the skin (not excess fat!) breaking up, as when the connecting tissue fibers begin to degenerate overtime, the fat breaks apart and starts to push up against the skin. Hence why its appearance is more obvious as we age and our skin is more delicate than it used to be.

BTL Unison cellulite treatment results

With all that being said, it’s no surprise that a majority of the population are helplessly searching for quick fixes that will rid their cellulite. The problem with this is, despite all of the lotions, potions and magic tricks on the market that promise dramatic results in just one week, a lot of people don’t understand the ins and outs of the cause, and the fact that these treatments just don’t work.

Sure, they might help to reduce the appearance of cellulite over time with formulated ingredients which work to tighten the skin, but the underlying layer of fat will still be there. Not only that, but there’s a good chance that in order to see long-lasting results, these products will need to be applied daily or the skin will return to its natural state and you’re back to square one.

So, while making positive changes to your lifestyle, eating habits and general activity is beneficial to overall health and wellbeing – which can in turn reduce the visibility of cellulite – without treating the underlying cause, the problem will still be there.

In terms of treating the underlying issue, we of course don’t need to go down the route of invasive and possibly risky procedures such as liposuction, which is why BTL Unison is the answer to our prayers.

What is BTL Unison?

The Unison Treatment from is a painless, safe and effective treatment used for the reduction of cellulite on problem areas on the body.

This clinically proven treatment makes it entirely possible to remove cellulite from any affected area of the body, using combined radio frequency and shockwave massage applications.

The revolutionary combination of these technologies has produced the only device that can treat all underlying causes of cellulite with zero downtime.

Targeting the causes of cellulite:

  1. Fat pockets in the dermal layers – Radio frequency is used to painlessly heat the fat cells to 40° – 43° in order to reduce their size.
  2. Poor skin condition – As we mentioned earlier, reduced collagen and elastin in the skin is a contributing factor to the visibility of cellulite. Radio frequency and shockwave manipulation are proven methods of increasing both collagen and elastin in the dermal layers.
  3. Poor lymphatic drainage – In order to increase lymphatic flow and drainage, radio frequency and shockwave manipulation work to give a deep lymphatic massage.
  4. Poor blood circulation – The deep massage given by the unison treatment effectively increase blood flow, encouraging healthy growth of new collagen proteins.

A 2018 study by Klaus Fritz et al using BTL Unison found cellulite reduction in 93% of cases, with most significant improvement seen in patients with moderately severe cellulite. The sudy concluded that the application is effective and safe for treating cellulite, with the level of clinical improvement after 4 sessions being compatable to results seen after anywhere between 6-20 sessions of stand-alone cellulite treatments including laser, RF and targeted pressure energy devices.

What does a BTL Unison treatment involve?

The amazing thing about BTL Unison is how quick and pain-free the entire procedure is. Each session of BTL Unison takes approximately 30 minutes, this being dependent on how many areas are receiving the treatment.

The practitioner will firstly apply a special cream over the entirety of the area to be treated, before massaging the application handpiece over the treatment area. You can expect to feel a comfortable heat being applied, during which shockwaves will push against the skin at a rate of 10 times per second.

The procedure is entirely comfortable and tolerable, and there is no downtime following the treatment so you are able to carry on with your day as normal.

In order to achieve long lasting results, 4 to 6 treatments are required at weekly intervals. Initially, results may be visible immediately due to the static lymph and excess fluid being massaged away, but you can expect to see the full effect of the treatment in 12 weeks while the body works to increase the production of collagen proteins.

In short, BTL Unison is the ideal treatment for anyone affected by cellulite, and you can be safe in the knowledge that it administers no pain and no anaesthesia is required. If you want long-lasting, visible results that quick fix methods don’t deliver, then BTL Unison is the solution for you.
